Karen Quiroz Mena
English Teacher
I.E Carrasquilla
English teacher at the Integrado Carrasquilla Industrial Educational Institution in Quibdó.
She has implemented innovative pedagogical initiatives such as the Student Short Film Festival in English. Her work has been recognized at academic and community events in Quibdó and nationally, where she has promoted English learning and the development of other 21st-century skills through audiovisual projects with lower and upper secondary school students.

Dr. Eugenio Perea Molano
Faculty member in the Social Communication and Journalism program UTCH
Eugenio Perea Molano is a professional in Audiovisual Media Direction and Production and a lecturer in Audiovisual Studies at the Technological University of Chocó “Diego Luis Córdoba” (UTCH). From the classroom to the most remote rivers and mountains of the region, he leads community filmmaking workshops, helping local communities tell their own stories using the tools of audiovisual language. His main areas of expertise are cinematography and screenwriting, which he integrates as creative pillars in hands-on workshops and collaborative projects. Perea Molano works to make cinema a tool of memory, craft, and self-expression in Colombia’s Pacific region.

Dra. Victoria Ayala Lozano
Coordinator of Social Communication and Journalism UTCH
Social communicator and coordinates the specialized field of Social Communication and Journalism at the Universidad Tecnológica del Chocó. She leads academic and research initiatives focused on audiovisual storytelling, guiding students through their project productions. Her work blends teaching with audiovisual creation from pedagogical, territorial, and critical perspectives, encouraging narratives rooted in local realities. She has produced numerous educational audiovisual exercises that highlight social stories and processes, using visual media as a tool for cultural transformation. Her efforts strengthen the bridge between theory and practice, shaping communicators who are attuned to their environment and committed to social change.

Jair Stiven Asprilla
Student in the Social Communication and Journalism UTCH
Jair Filmmaker is a young audiovisual creator from Chocó, dedicated to showcasing the cultural and natural richness of his region. As director of the Chocó - Tierra Nuestra project, he has produced notable works such as commercials for Quibdó and Acandí, offering an authentic view of the territory. His work has transcended local boundaries, collaborating with the Ministry of Cultures and the Chocó Chamber of Commerce. Winner of the Best Student Short Film award at UTCh, he excels in video editing and visual storytelling that promotes memory, identity, and cultural projection of Chocó’s communities.

Yani Milena Córdoba
English teacher at Miguel Antonio Caicedo Mena Educational Institution
Yani Milena Córdoba Mosquera is an English teacher at Miguel Antonio Caicedo Mena Educational Institution in Quibdó, known for incorporating film and audiovisual tools into her teaching. She leads student short film projects that enhance English communication skills and foster creativity and technological abilities. She is currently participating in the CONEXCINE Film Festival with BENKOS, a short film selected for the virtual competition and nominated for the national Audience Choice Award. Her passion, dedication, and innovative approach have made her an inspiring figure in her educational community, driving meaningful and transformative learning experiences.

Jesús Manuel Santana
Photographer, audiovisual director, and content creator
Audiovisual creator, photographer, and tenth-semester student of Social Communication and Journalism at UTCH.
He has participated in film productions as a still photographer for the short film Cielo de Tambores, a piece that revives the struggle of King Barule for freedom. His visual work, developed under the brand Lions Studios, is distinguished by a sensitive and aesthetic approach that connects Afro-descendant narratives with cinematic language, embracing stories that emerge from the territory, resistance, and cultural identity of Colombia’s Pacific region.
