The appearance - Kala is the sunrise, the moment of entering the visible world. This section is dedicated to films made by women or centred on women's experiences. It brings forward voices that have too often stayed in the shadow and reflects the diversity of women's lives across Africa and its diasporas. It is a space to celebrate the female gaze in cinema and to advance gender equality and representation.
